Hey you, welcome to my digital hideout! š»āØ
Nice to meet you...
Iām Ameliaābut letās get one thing straight: Iāve got more nicknames than job titles.
Norwegian friends and Family call me Amy, my Indonesian friends call me Amel or Mel, and back home, my fam still calls me Lia. So take your pickāI answer to all of them (especially if thereās food or coffee involved āš).
So who am I, really?
Born and raised in beautiful, chaotic, food-filled Indonesia, Iām the proud big sister to two amazing siblings and daughter to the strongest woman I know. My dad passed away in 2012, and even though heās not with us anymore, heās still a big part of my why. ā¤ļø
I graduated in 2003 with a degree in English for Educationābecause I've always loved learning and sharing knowledge (even if life later handed me fish instead of books... but weāll get to that). In 2004, I met my husband, and in 2005 we said "letās do this" and got married. That same year, I moved to Norwayāand whew, what a shift!
Fast forward: We have an amazing son (born 2008), I became a Norwegian citizen in 2015, and Iāve now lived in Norway longer than I ever imagined. I work full-time in a salmon processing plant aka the Slaughterhouse š (I know, super glam), and Iāve been doing that for nearly 20 years. Yup, 20 years of fish guts and freezer boots. Glamorous? No. Honest work? Absolutely.
But here's the thingā¦
At some point, I started asking myself: āIs this really it? Work, sleep, repeat?ā
Because while I believe in working hard, I also believe in not losing yourself in the grind. I tried the whole "multiple jobs, hustle ātil you drop" routine... and spoiler: it led straight to burnout city. No thanks.
In late December 2023, I stumbled on a woman talking about digital and affiliate marketing. Something clicked. I joined the program in January 2024. And after six months of fear, learning, overthinking (and talking myself out of it 67 times), I finally decided:
Letās do this thing.
No background in marketing. No techy degree. Just pure willpower, Wi-Fi, and the drive to build a life with more time, more freedom, and more ME.
So⦠why After Hour Lifestyle?
Because everything Iām buildingādigital products, passive income streams, creative freedomāhappens after hours.
After the fish. After the shift. After the real-life stuff.
Itās the life Iām creating outside the 9ā5 (or in my case, 6am fish shift).
Itās about building a lifestyle that doesnāt have to wait for retirement.
I wanted more:
š° More time
šø More money
šāāļø More me
And this brand is how Iām doing it.
Youāll probably find me knitting like a woman possessed. š§¶ Itās how I chill after a long dayāNetflix (or Disney+), blanket, tea, and about six half-finished pairs of socks on my lap because yes, I somehow thought it was a good idea to knit six at once. (Don't ask. It's a vibe.)
I also love photographyāespecially nature. Norway spoils us with the Midnight Sun in summer (where the sun literally refuses to go to bed for two months), and the Northern Lights in winter (aka "the sky decided to throw a glow party").
Pictures of Northern lights and midnight sun, taken at 3.30 am on summer 2022.
Hiking here is practically a religion. Norwegians take their coffee, pack a lunch, and hit the trails like pros. And honestly? I love it. Itās good for the soulāand the thighs.
This is the view you get when youāre hiking in Norway.
ā½ Oh, and Iām a football fan.
Team Juventus forever.
My husband and son? Traitors. They're die-hard Liverpool. Itās fine. We survive.
š¶ Music? I love everything. Top 40, Spanish, Italianāeven if I have no idea what theyāre singing about. If it makes me dance, Iām in.
So whatās the point of all this?
I created this space for YOU.
To show you whatās possibleāeven if youāve got zero experience, a full-time job, and a life that feels ātoo busy.ā
If youāre looking for a way out, a way forward, or just a way to start something newāyou're in the right place.
Because if people like me can do this, so can you.
So thank you for being here.
Thank you for reading.
And feel free to reach out anytimeāwhether itās about digital marketing, knitting chaos, or football debates. I got you.
Letās build your After Hour Lifestyle together.
With love (and coffee),
Amelia
